I'm running out of hair on this one.
I am trying to put a single tab at a point in a part file. I insert the following line at that point before the M3 command (no Z change):
VB,2,10,20,5,1,1,10
(I run in mm)
Nothing happens.
What am I missing?
Or does tabbing only work with M2 commands?
TIA
Ralph
When you start a file, there is a parameter in the fill-in sheet to enable the tabbing feature. 6th parameter.

If you only need a single tab and you know exactly where in the file you want it it may be easier to just insert the move commands to raise the bit at the appropriate place, move to the end of the tab, and plunge back to cutting depth.

David,
That is what I ended up doing, but it is a pain. I've actually discovered that you can do it as I tried, but it only works with 2d commands - M2, MX, MY, CG . Unfortunately my (home grown) software puts everything out as M3 commands, which is I believe quite common. I will have to re-write it to issue M2 commands when not doing 3d moves as I find the generic tabs throughout the file approach too inflexible
