i own a prt standard with a makita 3.25 router
cutting 3/4 ply cabinets parts.
i have just shifted from using a 3/8 to a 1/4 bit]
tried it out for the first time today seem to work with no problem. i normally cut at 1.7 ips
with the 3/8 bit. i took the 1/4 bit up to 210 ips
as a test and it seem to work ok
just wondered what was the fastest anyone with a
similar shopbot has pushed a 1/4 inch bit before having problems.
i am also curious about how much more resistance
does a 3/8 bit cutting is compared to a 1/4 bit.
thanks paul

If you keep your stepdown reasonable (no more than 3/8" per pass), then you should be able to run up to about 2.5 IPS. It depends on a number of factors, including how intricate the design is. Set it @ 2 IPS if you don't want to take any chances.

I'm sure you know, but a 4G upgrade for that machine would make it perform like a new PRS...
