We are doing an inlay/intarsa/whatever of a butterfly. The butterfly is in zebrawood. Different colored woods will be used for the "dots". The whole piece will be inlayed in a parawood base which has been stained a deep red. Our concern (error?) is that, when we get done with the inlay and run the whole thing though the wide belt sander that the stained parawood will be sanded down to its original color.
Does anyone know how well parawood absorbs stain? Is there a technique to restain the parawood without messing up the inlay?
