If you REALLY want to see what some ingenuity ,and a CNC machine can do, take a look at what these people are doing...The future is here...

In the latest version(April) of Discover magazine (light reading for real science geeks, including ads for the NEW all terrain, sit down 2 passenger, 25 mph Segway Centaur...) they DO show a full scale rig building a wall at 5 IPS. It's not a lot different than using a "slip mold" except they took the tedious part out of it, and combined it with a simple gravity fed hopper... Time to do our homework on LARGE stepper motors......
P.S. They don't have the April issue on their web site yet, but keep an eye out..

The premier issue of the coolest magazine I've seen in recent years just came out... Make (http://make.oreilly.com/). Check it out if you get a chance.

I saw this system working on TV a few months ago, I guess it was Discovery Channel. They were building a one room structure with a plasticized cement, have no idea what the feed speed was ;)
Very cool.

I don't know if they will sell just the rosin dispenser but the results sure are nice.

Jim,
Come to the Jamboree. Creative Resins, a company from England is a distributor of this process, and they will be doing their thing on Saturday Afternoon...They are the same people mentioned in your second link above...They will be showing how to do it on a Shopbot which is the machine they now sell along with their resin dispenser...

Bill: This looks like it would interest a lot of folks who may not be able to make the jamboree. A Synopsis/paper would probably be a good product from the presentation as well as possibly getting those folks to participate in MikeJohns' upcoming camp in England.
I'll take up the subject of presentation papers further on the appropriate thread later.

If someone can please get them to contact me, it would be great to get them to the European camp (mini-jamboree?). There stuff looks a possible winner for ShopBotters.
I will be out of contact from Sunday 20th as I trudge across Europe to finally collect my ShopBot. Emails are still good, but may not get answered immediately.
How much of the jamboree we can mirror is yet to be discovered.
well off topic, sorry

Mike, if you are going to try and mirror the Carolina Jamboree in England, then I would rather visit Carolina. I think the Euro-Camp must develop its own unique character.

tell me what you want, all of you, and I will endeavour to organise it. This is your camp, I'm only organising it for you. I do feel we have a different slant on things this side of the pond. But if I get no feed back

Mike, I didn't mean to p** on your parade with that last comment. To put it bluntly, I don't want to have to look at a scoresheet all the time to see if we are in step with our brothers who say zee instead of zed. We can further develop some thoughts in the appropriate thread, but the quick summary of my expectation is to socialise face to face (and hands-on) in spirit of this Forum.

Gerald,
Judging from Shopbot sanctioned CAMPS I have attended in the US and Canada, there are certain guidelines, safety issues and other baseline things that make it a 'Shopbot' event. So while you have all the creative leeway to make the camp distinctly european, you will still have to adhere to certain guidleines that make a Shopbot camp...a Shopbot camp.
If you haven't already done so, you probably want to contact Shopbot and get some guidelines and protocols for the event and have them send you any promo materials that are sent to the US camps. This makes the event a no-brainer for you, and also makes sure that newbies and current users alike get what they came for. This also addresses your lack of feedback by giving you a general outline. There will be plenty of time for face to face and sideline discussions throughout the day.

Brady, Mike is the host and I am sure that he has covered that already. An example of what I mean is that the Zed-Camp should not feel obliged to line up a lawyer because the Zee-Jamboree has/had one.

I was in contact with ShopBot from the very start, and have already had good feed back.
In fact there are no draconian rules, although health and safety rules are as strict in the UK as they are in the states. ShopBot have not indicated in any shape or form 'certain guidelines' or 'baselines'. They have offered help, but have not pushed me in any direction.
My original idea was to have a 'physical' forum, with some sort of structure. In my mind, any gathering of like minded people, sharing ideas and problems in a positive manner, can only underline the ideas and ethics of a company like ShopBot.
I can assure all of you who are coming, and the list grows longer, that the welcome will be as warm as the beer.
And it will be European (so learn how to measure in metric
)
I apologise for this dreadful thread drift

Mike ~ Good!
Gerald...just for reference, the Jamboree is quite a bit more robust than a Camp like Mike is hosting...In fact, if you've attended a camp before, you'd know just how out of place and strange a presentation given by a lawyer would be!

Mike,
There ARE some basic guidelines to follow in holding a Camp Shopbot. I have sent them to you at your traditionalrockinghorse e-mail address. If you have another address please get back to me...
P.S. I just found your "hotmail" address and sent them there as well ...

Interested to know what peoples reaction was to the Creative Resins product (shown at the Jamboree) and if it looks as good in real life as it does in the photo?
Any alternative ideas other than stained windows discussed by the company?
