I found a neat little tool the other day that I thought you folks my be interested in. It's called Gear Generator: http://www.woodgears.ca/gear/index.html

The software is $23 and will create DXF files suitable for cutting gears on your ShopBot.

The main woodgears.ca site showcases some of the projects the guy has built. He'd be an animal if he had a 'bot! *laughs*

Gene,

I have used this site in the past and I think you can design and print without paying for the program. Unless he has changed it, the $23 is just if you want to load it on your own computer.

I love his tenoning jig! You're right! Just imagine if he had a Bot!!

It works great. If you type in 0 (zero) for the number of teeth it will produce a rack for rack and pinion use. I use it to cut 1/4 inch nylon sheets for use in animation projects. It is very easy to use and makes calculations very quickly. The online freebie version is limited but useful, the $23 version has lots and lots of add on features and file formats. I like it!

I didn't want to have to hit a web site every time. Besides the stand-alone program is very cool.

Russ - Welcome to Oregon!

Visited your site and even though I'm not a devout RR fan, it was very interesting. I wanted to take a closer look at some of the pix with links but they were broken and the home button seems broken as well.

Donn - thaks for the heads up on my very out of date website. It is one of those things I'm trying to get to sooooon!
I love Oregon and we should have made the move a long time ago. All I need is just a little more time now that I'm retired!
