I am using the tif converter to create files from digi photos, I am having marginal luck, but I think I need to use smaller bits. Anyone have a source for cutters that would be good for this application.
Thanks

Jay, I have been buying small bits from Mcmaster-Carr (www.mcmaster.com). When you get to their page look for "end mills".You can get them as small as 1/64". Usually I use their 1/8" ,4-fluted carbide bits, and they hold up very well..
When I did the photos, I used a v-bit made by Amana. It's what they call their Sign Bit. I think it's 60 degrees, and it has 3 cutting edges and comes to a nice sharp point. It's got a 1/4" shank.
Another tip would be regarding the cutting depth. You don't need very much depth to get a nice looking photo. Mine worked out pretty good at -0.03

Jay,
I had the best luck by using tif files where the background is darker than the rest of the picture. It takes longer but the picture is raised instead of recessed.
