I still use a router because the worst that can go wrong costs about $250 (a new router).
One big down side to the PC router is that its exhaust blows horizontally across the table and puts a lot of dust into the air.
I replaced the inner dust skirt on the Alpha dust collector as shown in the picture.

The new inner skirt is about 1/2 inch taller than the old outer skirt.
Virtually all of the exhaust goes up now and there is plenty of room for the upper wrench.
Total investment - 50 cents of material and about 15 minutes.
Wish I had tried this 3 years ago!
