Hi Everyone:

My company just bought a PRS. It is not here yet. I am the 3D design guy here (2D, rendering, etc.). I use Rhino, and ACAD.

My first ShopBot project includes Lit-ply veneered both sides with formica, and requires dado's and rabbets. My main question without even used the Bot is how to cut these dado's cleanly, and how to get around the round corner on dados.

I'm sure this question has been asked before and I tried to find it but....

Thank you for your help and time.

Pocket (my choice) or profile if the tool used is large enough. Both at the proper depth, that's all.

As for round corner thing; you can machine past the edge by the tool radius concerning the edge parts

or over shoot the inside corners with a small notch as this

I suggest straight edge(s) or down cut tool bit.

Hope this help get started.

You could also do "blind" dado's to eliminate the "dog-bone" (that's my term for overshooting the corners
) I use the dog-bone alot for inside corners, like toe kicks, that way you don't have to file the corner square or round over the back of the kick.
