Need some more help. What bit(s)do you guys use to "level" your spoilboard with. Also any suggestions as to exact bits needed for 3d carving in wood. I've called everywhere for the onsrud taper bits with no luck. Am I missing something here? I will order one from SB (the 1/8" ball nose tapered) but thought there might be others available as well. I've done searches and gleaned some sites from those posts and check a couple of them out. I must be typing the wrong names in the search boxes. I now have the deer in the headlights look. ;)
Thanks,
Shari

Shari, I use the same bit we use in most of our work .5" flat bottom. You can use any size bit, just depends on the amount of time you care to use. I have tried the larger diameter bits and like the smaller diameters, however, if you use large diameter bits and are not exact on all your axis you will have deeper cuts in the spoilboard on the side of the cut out of square.

http://www.mcmaster.com/
in the find box on the side of the page type in
Taper ball end mill
you will find more than you could ever want. Every shape and size and length.
Or type in
8936A21
in the find box and they will appear also.

Thanks guys. It's going to take me a little bit to learn all the "techie" terms for things. But I promise I'll learn as fast as I can. ;) Will get the bits ordered today so I can carve next week.
