New Z Axis motor...

Has anybody else tried putting a larger stepper
motor on their Z axis?

I put a larger motor on my Z axis and I seem to be
getting some SERIOUS resonance problems (I think
the motor is operating in an RPM band that is too
low for its proper operation).

Anyways, if anybody has "upgraded" their Z axis
motor, I would like to hear about it.

After 2hrs digging in the forum basement and not finding my answer (this is the closest thread, although two years old) has anybody put a bigger vexta stepper on there z-axis? I have a 2 year old pr model with the standard (I guess) power supply and I want (need) more power on the z-axis. Any info of a working solution would be greatly appreciated. thnx. keith

I am in the same kind of head scratching, wanting to adapt a 16 Kg Perske Spindle to the Shopbot.
Has anybody ever done that ?
Is is enough just to reinforce the strings, or shall I consider upgrading the z axis motor as well?
