Wanted to pass on a tip I found to reduce clutter and have my tools for the Bot in a know location.

I use magnets on the inside of the "X" axis I-Beam to hold all my wrenches and metal parts. They never get bumped off since the top and bottom of the beam act as a bumper and the Bot has more surface for the magnets the wrenches just pull away leaving the magnets. It has saved time not looking for parts and wrenches. One could use the magnets to put job notes or tools on any axis.

They are also great on the end of a ground clip for the z plate. Wrap and epoxy the magnet in some thin brass shim stock to protect the bit.

The ones that work best are the rare earth magnets.

I have been thinking of trying to attach the dust skirt with magnets, easy to get off and on. Any ideas?

Thanks
Mike

There is some good info about rare earth magnets on the Lee valley site.

Also, if you have any computer hard drives around that are too small to be any good or broken, there are incredibly strong magnets in them. You may have to run down a small torx bit to separate the shells.

Thanks for the tip, I'm going into the shop today and use some of those hard drive magnets for something other than interesting toys.
