I've read that some people are using a modified z-zero file and a peice of angle iron for zeroing the x and y axis. Can anyone help me find this file? By the way, I'm a new shopbotter, less than two weeks old. This MACHINE ROCKS!

I bought the Z-Zero plate with my machine...but it seems to me that you could use anything that is flat, electrically conductive and that you have an exact thickness value for.
Let's say you have a .122 thick piece of steel. You can go into the s_zzero.sbp file and change the thickness value to .122. I like the SB aluminum one because if the bit comes down hard on the plate, the AL will give more than the steel.
That's pretty much all there is to it...

Here's my modified file. I just use a piece of angle screwed onto a block that is either placed on the outside corner of the material or placed in the corner of a square that is screwed to my table at varying places from time to time. However you do it just be sure that the inside face of the angle is placed where you want zero to be. Please read the .sbp file first as there are a couple of pauses that can be changed or commented out. As it is now, it will pause for five seconds while you get to the block to hold it in place.

Machine rocks? I have only machined wood, plastic, and some aluminum. But let us know how it turns out.
