Hi all,

Does anyone know of a countersink bit that will drill a 1/8" or less hole with a countersink that will fit in a 1/4" or 1/2" router collet. I need to drill and countersink a lot of small 1/4" plywood pieces, and I would like to eliminate half of the process instead of running all the pieces through twice, first plunging a 1/8" hole and then using a V bit to make the countersink.

Scott I bought a complete set from 1/16 to 1 inch, the set came with 1/4- 3/8- 1/2. I bought mine at Home Depot, the full set cost $169.00 but you can get then single too.

Hope you have a store near you? if not check you local hardware, or check at Sears.

Ron,

I think Scott is looking for a 1/8" drill bit that
also has a 1/4" countersink "built in".

Yes, I am sure that they makes these but you will
probably not find them at Home Labyrinth. Check
out your local tool crib (or MSC, J&L ect).

In a J&L catalog, I found a 60' combine drill and
countersink. The closest match to what you are
looking for is a size #4. It has a 5/16" body and
a 1/8" drill. Now, I know the 5/16" won't fit in
a collet but a #3 has a 1/4" body and a 7/64"
drill. Note, these are high speed steel and are
made for cutting metal but should work for short
production runs in wood. BTW, J&L part number for
a set of 5 is HCD-38005M for imported quality and
KCD-78005B for KEO brand.

Another alternative might be a stepped drills.
These might work for your application. They are
intended for drilling flush holes for socket head
cap screws. I see a set in J&L part #DSD-01050B
for a Jobber Length set (but they have all kinds).

Lastly, I have seen (and it might have been in a
Home Labyrinth a countersink/counterbore that
slides over a drill and is locked in position via
a set screw. You might look through a General
Tool catalog for this, as I cannot remember where
or when I saw it.

Hope this helps,

1/4" shank, countersink and bore units for wood:

http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.asp?page=32328&category=1,180,42277,42281&abs page=1&ccurrency=2&SID= (http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.asp?page=32328&category=1%2C180%2C42277%2C422 81&abspage=1&ccurrency=2&SID=)

If you look around on the Lee Valley site, you'll find the high-end tapered bore/counter sink sets. Unfortunately, these don't have the 1/4" shanks.

Thanks everyone, I'll check those out and I also found some at a local mom & pop hardware store that might work with some slight modification.
