Suggestions for an air drill bit for plywood?
Also, what should I be using as a plunge rate?

I have had the best luck with carbite tipped boring machine bits. Best hole quality for 5mm shelf holes at 5000 rpm. I use the 70mm length and then put them in a boring machine chuck indexed to the same length like this:
5164
Depending on material try 1 ips on the plunge and reduce to get the hole quality. Make sure you use a safe z that is close to the material to shorten cycle time.

Gary,
Thanks very much for the posts. Where were you able to get the boring machine chucks?

I think I got them from ToolsToday.com. One thing, I am going to chuck themn in the lathe and turn the shafts down to 5/16 to eliminate the threads.
