Cutting Out Letters

How do you cut out letters instead of just have the Shopbot carve them into the wood?

Well... fancy, square cut, it depends,
if you are going to profile them,that is give them the carved look, you would do this first then cut them out, and depending on size of letters and thickness of wood that would determine bit size and offsets

now if you are talking about raised letters on
wood, you pocket the background away from the letters, again fancy, or square cut or whatever,
leaving raised letters.. hope this is some help..
