Does anyone know how I can machine this post?

It would depend on what software you have. I have ArtCam Pro and would draw the profile and then extrude it across a model the width of the part. Then just do a four sided machining strategy (machine and then turn the part a total of four times)

I would do similar to Jim's suggestion. I would also do a 'stack' of parts at one time, registering the parts from one end.

Jim,
Thanks for trying to help me with this. A couple of questions:
What bit would you use and will the toolpath try and cut the whole surface in yellow and not just the shape on the end
I have the model but I cannot figure out how to rotate it so that the top of the post is being machined at the opposite end of the x axis .
