Does anyone have any experence in cutting Lexan?
I may bid a job for the military to make bullet resistant lens covers. These covers are about 1 1/2" thick and are made of Lexan ($2000/sheet 4'x8'x1-1/2"). I was looking for advice on how to cut this stuff, like cutting RPM, cutting speed and types of bits to use and other tecniques such as air or water cooling. These lens covers are ellipsoidal in shape and are about 18" on the minor axis and about 24 on the major. A smooth edge is not required as it is going to be caulked into something.
