Sanding fine details

I just discovered 3M sanding pens, about $5.00 in the automotive section of my local Wallmart. These are a little expensive, but do a quicker and better job than folded sandpaper or anything else I've tried to cleanup small spaces.

Other Ideas?

Scotch pads..the brown ones work really well for finishing 3D reliefs and leave no metal behind to contaminate the finish.
