Hello,

I'm looking for a piece of software that will allow me to take an image (jpeg or similar) and convert it to a 3D image that I can cut on the shopbot. I would use ArtCam Pro, but I am looking for something that is under $1000. Is there anything that will allow me to do this at that price range?

MeshCAM Art (http://www.robgrz.com/)

Virtual Sculptor (http://www.designscomputed.com/vs3d/) (if the price has dropped?)

thanks, that MeshCAM looks like it should do the trick.

The MeshCAM Art software looks very interesting. I dont see a listing for it under the "Designing and Creating the sbp cutting file". Are botters just not using this software much? I would like to hear some feedback from some of you that are using it. I had someone ask me for a 3D fleur de lis and I can't find a good one to purchase. There are hundreds of 2D ones to choose from. Since the cost of the software is going up toward the end of the month, I would like to make a decision and purchase if convinced it's worth the investment.

MeshCAM Art is pretty new.

I believe you can request a trial license from Robert. (http://www.robgrz.com/download.php)

Stan,

Have you looked at www.vectorart3d.com (http://www.vectorart3d.com) ? They have a good one. Also look for 3D Machinist.

Dave,

I have looked there but they only have one to choose from.

MeshCAM Art has some modeling capabilities; basics but capable. You're likely to want/need a image editing application as companion to MeshCAM Art though.
