I am finally getting around to trying to build my business sign. I plan to pocket my name- Heritage Woodcraft and my phone number into the sign and inlay lettering. What is the easiest way to take my text from the sign and move it to a new file to nest and cut the letters in other material? I am still unsure as to what my materials will be. I also may try inlay a 3d maple leaf from the vector 3d folder.
Thank you
Lorin

Hi Lorin,

When you want to copy the letters, you can either select the vectors and export them as an EPS or a DXF file and import them into a new file. Or you can run a second copy of Aspire and after you have created your new blank file simply copy and paste the vectors from your original session.

I inlaid walnut in this oak hope chest I did for my daughter several years ago.

I first cut the walnut parts. Then I cut the pockets in the oak and glued them in leaving the panels secured to the ShopBot table. When the glue was dry I reran the complete file to add the details.

Wow - nice idea - that takes the whole idea of inlay with the shopbot to another level.
I have some design ideas that will really put this technique to use.
Did you use regular yellow glue, or a fast setting epoxy?
Thanks
Bob

Thanks Bob & Charles.
I think I used gorilla glue if I remember right.
