I have a friend who wants me to redo his faded signs in front of his business but they are plexiglass with applied vinyl letters. Where would be the best place to learn about how to work with vinyl and cutting or do any of you have a vinyl cutter would give me some prices if i give you specifics?

Jack,
First, where are you located?
Is there a light behind the plexiglass? that dictates what type of vinyl you need to use. I would be able to provide and cut the vinyl, but the shipping may make it cheaper to have it done by a local sign shop, you might even get a wholesale customer out of the deal.

Jack, Not to cut Jay or anyone else out of some business, but take a look at the vinylmate - possibly you could pay for one out of this job then you'd have another tool in your arsenal.
I wouldn't recomend a vinylmate for a sign shop that cut's vinyl everyday, but for those of us that just need to do it for ourselves once in a while they seem to work well.

I have no idea how to work it yet but recently purchased a SEIKI 32" vinyl ploter new on e-bay for $245.00 plus 6 rolls of colored vinyl and shipping from las vegas for a total of $375.00 including some software.
Have no idea when I will earn the software but couldn't resist for the price of a modest single sign or banner.
I think Vinyl mate may work but plotters are fairly cheap and can be isolated from shop dust etc which is very critical.

Jerry, I did the same thing with the US Cutter on E Bay.
The program was tougher to learn than I thought. Win sign pc is pretty easy though.
I could send you a simple file to test it with. What machine do they say you should set the post processor for? Roland, Graphtex?
