We're using 1/2" Corian for signs. What settings are best for a cnc router r.p.m. and inches per minute.
Thanks. Roy Shimp

Roy

I talked to a guy in the business about this today and found out that Corian has changed their formula in the last couple of years. Earlier the stuff was near to impossible to cut, it was really hard. The stuff they are putting out now cuts like a dream. We cut a sign today that turned out just beautiful on the first try.

Onsrud 90 degree 1 1/4 inch carbide bit. 19,000 RPM and .6 of an inch move speed. You can use your table saw with a carbide blade to cut the blanks. Saw at a reasonably slow rate and the cuts are very nice.

I've never cut corian, but it sounds like a great material. Can it be used outside without any type of protection? What types of abrasives are used to polish cut surfaces, paint or sizing materials for guilding which are compatible with corian? Are there any special techniques that would help?
Thanks, Jeff Guinn
