I'm trying to track down a good solid surface material with which to make a sign. Corian would work if it came in thicker pieces and was more cost effective. I'm wanting something that is very resistant to vandalism. The plan is to 2-D route pockets into one color and then inlay with another made out of the similar material. Any suggestions?

I don't know how feasible this might be depending on the thicknesses you are working with but what about doing a pocketing out all the way thru the top material and have it reveal the layer of a different color below sort of like colorcore?

Michael..
Most of the various other solid surface materials that I have used are good. Many of them have slightly different cutting and adhering properties than Corian does. Even tho most of the Corian clones are less than Corian branded materials, they are all fairly pricey. Very few are less than $10/sqft unless you buy a ton.

I get mine from counter top or cabinet shops. They should give you the scrape.
