I have a back Dr. that want a new sign. On the sign he want a spine suspended in a circle .
Does anyone have any experience or suggestions. I'd be willing to out-source to someone who can make this.

I can laser scan a spine model if you can get one from your client. You can then carve it into your material as a relief. www.ibild.com (http://www.ibild.com)

you ought to be able to find a 3d file of a spine already made on a free 3d object website. Do a google search. I know many years ago i made a skeleton in lightwave, i just don't know if its in a format you can use, or if i can find it but i'll look.

Here is a skeleton made in 3ds max. I no longer use 3ds max and don't have a way to convert it to a usable format. Maybe someone here can do that for you.

My client doesn't want a relief or a 3d carving, he actually wants the spine suspended in a circle.

I thought about contacting a medical supply company and buying one of those skeletons and cutting out the spine.

eBay search for 'spine model'. Prices seem reasonable.

how big is the sign.. most of the medical models are quite large.. I do have a 3d model in my collection if you want it.. I can send it any format you need then you have control over the size..

Get a model of a spine and cast clear resin around it to produce the "suspended" effect.

I am not convinced that it will be all that nice however you produce it...

It reminds me of Texas Chain Saw Massacre with the whole hanging bones idea.

Just my opinion...

I tried cutting a model and it was just too fragile and too many undercuts to get a good accurate representation. I would buy a model like darren recommends and then also do like steve recommends and suspend it in resin to keep vandals from ruining it.
