My next door neighbors, Alan and Roger, started up a router company not long ago. Their idea was to carve full size, and larger, images from artists small little models. They'd use light weight foam.

Most of their models end up beign cast from bronze. We have a great local foundry, which opened up a few years ago.

It's a real pleasure to visit and meet artists who come to finish up on their models.

Each of their models are done in slices, then put together. Then surfaced, ready for casting.

Artsits and work pass through their shop daily. It's always fun to visit.

They've built a scanner that operates by painting back and forth with a wand which generates a 3D file. The image appears on a monitor. This produce monster files. They've built a companion program for editing.

Wish I could explain it better. I'm not being secretive.

It's fun watching their home built 3D router carve away the foam.

The largest image I've seen adorns the State Capital building and was cast in bronze. I'll take a few more snaps to give a better idea of what they are capiable of.

Needless to say these fellows are major players in the 3D world. Great fellows to have coffee with.
