I have heard that the KRYLON spray for plastic is ideal. Have run a few tests and believe its one good way to go but a simple test with a $6.00 spray can will definately tell you if its what you need.
I believe there are some simple must do's in prep or cleaning steps but pretty quick and basic if you can get the colors you like.

We scuff up the surface with either sandpaper or a Scotchbrite pad, clean with alcohol, and then paint with 100% acrylic, exterior latex paint.

Thanks for the information Jerry & Raymond.I had planned only to do the routing work for local sign companies but it seems like i'm going to have to provide some finish work also if i want their business,so i'm sure i'll have some more questions in the future.
thanks
