I am curious if anyone has any ideas as to designing an old style street sign. In a new development(private estates) where I have started to do some cabinetry I have been asked to make street signs. The development is in Victorian style so they want antiquish(??) looking signs. I am hoping to use pine or cedar possibly painting and then routing the background away. Any help would be appreciated.
Lorin,
If I may suggest, look at Mike Jacksons CD's for victorian designs. I've posted a thread earlier about his offerings under "Panels and Fonts".
When doing work like this, I stay away from wood products. They require too much maintenane. Have you considered something 1" PVC? I'd consider topcoating with Sculpt Nouveau Bronze with a verde patins. That would fit with the antique look and last for years.
