I just received samples of a plastic called Colorcore that is like a thick engraving material. The sheets are .25, .5, or .75 thick HDPE that have a thick core of one color and a thinner layer on the two faces of a contrasting color. The manufacturer says that it's designed for outdoor use. You can also buy a resin that you color with lettering enamel and pour into the cut out letters if you want more than one letter color. I'll post pictures of machined samples if anyone wants to see.

You can contact Piedmont Plastics @ 1-800-763-7899 for samples and prices. Greg Booth is the contact that knows about the material.

Tom, Harbor Sales ( 1-800-345-1712) has been carrying that product for awhile. Apparently different companies carry different colors so it might be nice to have a few sources of the stuff. They are using it on a lot of golf courses around here because it doesn't get affected by either sulight, temperature, or moisture..It runs about $100 for a 1/4 inch sheet, and close to $200 for the 1/2 inch variety around here...Bill P.

Polycarve and Champline are similar products. Polycarve has been around for quite a while.
