Okay this weekend I wanna play around and try to do a good size plaque. Maybe ingrave about 1/4"-1/2" lettering and drop some goldleaf inside. Also pocket out some text leaving an outline and enough room to drop some dimensional lettering that I will v-carv the faces and also goldleaf.

This will be my first plaque with engraving & v-carving ever. I'm going to attempt to finally use ArtCam.

So material wise what is the norm, I plan for 1" material. What should I be using for outdoor, MDO, MDF, Medex? Can I use certain ones or all of the above?

If those are your only choices...then MDO would be my top pick. If you are not sure how it will turn out...use pink insulation foam to proof your toolpaths before hacking into hte MDO.

Trupan carves very nicely, if you can get it out there. No dust like MDF...

Even a decent quality plywood will carve nicely. Sand the face and paint.
