Ok, I have had my Prs Alpha for about 3 months now and to chime in on the other thread its a great machine. But I have some more questions.

1. I am thinking now of buying a vacuum setup and I would like to hear the pro's and cons of both ways (fein and heavy duty system) Its taking me too long to tack pieces down and pull nails etc.

2. will a fein vacuum system hold down a 2" X 96" rip?

3. Any users that have 2 or more bots how are you doing it? one computer or 2/more. Also are you finding it hard to share information between multiple computers etc.

4. is there any bit at all that will get out all of the dust? I am using a heavy duty vac system and its not getting all of the dust in my cuts. Is just a bad design in the vacuum manifold or>?
I saw a video of a thermwood that got all the dust with a super low profile vacuum manifold.

Danny,

I did the screw down method for over 3 years before finally getting around to setting up my vacuum system and wish I had not taken so long. It is an unbelievable pleasure to put a sheet on the table and remove the parts without first placing screws then removing them when the cut is done.I also use the thin skin method which eliminates cutting off the tabs not to mention the time it used to take me to insert the tabs in the first place.

I cut primarily MDF and leaving a thin skin works very well. It may not work as well with wood but I have not cut any since going to vacuum 4 months ago.

The Fein will have no problem with your 2" X 96" strip if it is being cut from a larger piece and you tab or leave a thin skin. I only leave .01 skin and so far it has only very slightly went through a few times leaving a mark that is barley visable in the spoil board.

In any case I don't think you will find anyone to say they regret switching to a vacuum hold down system.
