Hi guys... I've had to dismantle my z-axis to install a replacement "t-plate" (carries the spindle). Initially, I set the rollers to run smoothly with the t-plate, then install the whole assembly on the y-carriage, tighten everything up and the whole (roller tracking)setup goes out of whack. I've loosened up the appropriate bolts per the manual to install the z-axis frame but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Additionally, can anybody recommend "how tight" I need to set the rollers in order to have them function correctly yet not wear out the rails - the rails appear not to be hardened. Does anybody have any experience in dealing with this? Thanks in advance

PS. This a brand new machine & Guido thanks for the help on the electrics.

The Z axis assembly will spread if you try to tighten the large 3/4" head bolts without loosening up the small bolts that attach the steel Y-car plate to the AL extrusions. (I know you said you did this...sounds like you need to do it again) If you pre-assemble the t-rail/z-axis, and you have it dialed in just right, it should NOT spread at all when you tighten it to the AL extrusion.

As far as how tight they need to be, move the cam adjusters until they just make contact with the t-rail & then tighten it about 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn to snug. Check it to make sure that it moves smoothly, but MOST importantly make sure that the gear rack on the t-rail is properly meshing with the pinion gear on the Z motor. You don't want this to be too tight or too loose either. Test by wiggling the t-rail an listening for 'ticking' of the pinon & rack. If you are replacing the t-rail (you or others) be sure to use a NEW pinon as the old one is probably worn.
