Here is a picture of my second $PAYING$ job. This is going to be a fireplace mantel in lake country of WI. I took a .50 piece Walnut and glued it to white ash then cut the loon and oval down to the ash. Special Thank's to James Booth for his help using Vcarve and 3d machinist to create this. Five tool paths and a total of 3.5 hours of cutting. The photo is right off the ShopBot, it needs very little sanding.

David,
That looks great from here, but it's hard to see the details. Any chance of getting a close-up of the duck figure?
Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

Looks great. Another fine example of the Shopbot capabilities and the intuitiveness of man.
Great job David - Really looks nice. What bits did you use for this job please. Thanks, Pete

Great Job David!
How long did you have to play with V-Carve before you could do that?

Thank you for all for the nice comments. I will get a better picture and post later. I had help on the design from James Booth he did the design and then walked me through the process of using it in Vcarve. The loon design is one you can buy off the web at http://www.vectorart3d.com/ and allot of others. The loon and oval tool paths were created in 3d machinist then imported into vacare. I did a roughing pass on the loon then the oval using a .250 end mill bit, then a finish cutt of the loon and then the oval using a .125 ball nose bit and then selected all and did a pocket to clear after the loon and oval were cut using a .250 end mill bit. The picture is before any sanding. You can all go to my web site and zoom into the pictures to see the detail.
