Steel or Wood Table

Hello,

I have just ordered the prt96 shopbot and I am wondering which table would be best, the steel or wooden. I would like to have it built by the time my new tool arrives. Any feedback would be appreciated.

If you have any projects that require z-axis accuracy (so other than 2D cutouts), I would strongly suggest the steel table. I have lived with the wood table I built 5 years ago changing with the seasons and having to be re-flattened 2-3 times a year. I'm tired of that and am now building my own steel table. Materials cost me less than $200.

I am please with my framing lumber wood table which is on heavy duty casters and has a lower shelf for storage of 4x8 sheet materials. But my signmaking and woodworking uses of my ShopBot do not demand the z-axis tolerances that some applications demand. ShopBot's steel table is great if you can afford it.
