Just got my machine moving. When I put in the command m2,96,48 it only moves ~4feet on the x and ~2 feet on the y. What am I missing. The machine is a prt alpha 96x48. The settings are in inches.
Thanks,
Todd

Todd,
Make sure that you are using the correct settings for your machine. Type in UR (U)tilities (R)eset, go through the steps to reset your settings and choose the proper settings file (.sbd) for your machine. If you have a PRT Alpha, you would use ShopBot_PRT96x48alpha.sbd.
After that, try moving again and check the commanded distance against the actual distance moved.
Start there first.

Scott, Thanks for the suggestion however it did not change my problem. Could anyone suggest anything else? I have sent an email to tech support.
Thanks,

Todd,
Scott is on the correct track. I needed to change my unit value for the Z axis. Use go to values->unit and change the unit values for your x and y. Since you are only moving 1/2 the distance you expect I believe that you will need to adjust the unit values you see by 1/2. The unit value is related to the number of motor steps/inch.

Todd,
Are you sure that you're using the right unit values for the motors/pinions on your machine? Do you have the original motors or the 7.2:1 upgrade?

Scott\Terry, I have the 7:2:1 upgrade. I will try the adjusting the unit values by half. This is what they are currently set on. x,y,z,=1273.2395. After I change that will it stick or do I need to change that each time?
Thanks,
Todd
Todd
Try setting the unit values for the x and y at 2482.8171 and the z at 2979.3805 . It should do the trick. let me know if it doesnt

There should be a default settings file that you can choose to use when you reset with the UR command called ShopBot_PRT96x48alpha7_2.sbd. That should have all the right default setting for your 7.2:1 system.
If not, then you should probably upgrade to the latest version 3.5.10 and don't forget to load the firmware for the control box with a UI command.
Is the Z motor also a 7.2:1 or was that one not upgraded?

Todd,
If the changes do not stick there is a file somewhere that can be updated - let me know and I will look for it.
Scott - Yes, the shipped files should have all the correct default values but they certainly did not when I got my machine.

Terry,
Do not change your Z unit values if you did not change the Z motor. I expect you did not change the z motor as most folks do not.
You will need to change the unit values for the X and Y since you changed those motors.

Thank you to everyone who responded. I downloaded the new 3.5.1 version and updated the firmware and all is well!!!
