Hi all,

Anyone tried using a handheld PC, or other windows mobile device as a remote for their ShopBot?

Thanks,
Ron

You'd need some sort of application running on the 'bot PC to receive the commands and send the keystrokes to SB3 as well as an app on the 'phone itself.

I've thought about writing an app for my Palm Pre but the the Logitech Wingman does everything I need so I've never got round to it.

Thanks Adrian,

Yeah - the apps would be pretty straightforward to write, but simpler and faster to just get a wingman. Although, if enough people would be interested in using their Win-Mo phone as a remote... ;-)

the ipod thing or iphone works pretty good.. when the Ipad comes out you can use the same app on it too.. not sure I want an Ipad though.. sounds like a feminine thing...

6787 I don't think I'd feel good having one of those $500 things lying on the bot table. My luck I'd drop something on it. I almost drilled a hole through my ipod Touch the other day! Luckily, I saved it at the last second!

The larger screen would be nice, but at that point, I think SB3 would need some kind of plug-in that would allow true two-way communication.

I use a cordless rumblepad 2 from Logitech. It works very well and is fully programmable.
http://www.talkshopbot.com/forum/messages/33572/36721.html I think is the link to the 12/14/2008 note from Ken Zey with a copy of his setup file. I have had no problems, but be sure to check it carefully on your system. I think it cost about $25 from amazon. It is tough - shop conditions for about 6 months haven't seemed to phase it. I just have to launch the controller software once after a system restart and it seems to stay resident on my Bot computer. I changed my setup a little from Ken's, but it is very easy to do. send me an email if you go this route and need a hand with it.
