you want to set the zero on the x-y? or the z?

I need to jump into this newbie thread as well. I am running my new PRS Alpha with 2.2HP HSD Spindle for the first time. I am following the table surfacing instructions in the assembly manual and am at the step that says "start the spindle by hitting Ctrl+1 and the start button on the 3 button pad." When I do that I get nothing. At one point I got the spindle to run when I loaded the file I created using the table surfacer command under the tools menu. I can't seem to repeat the scenario. Any thought? I will call support in the morning but I would love to get something cutting tonight.
Thanks, John

John...
The spindle wont start until the machine actually starts to move in the file. If you want to test this Hit <ctrl>+4, <ctrl>+1 then the green start button. Make sure all are off when done. You can also open the keyboard <K> then <ctrl>+1 and the button.

Gary,
Thanks for the help. I successfully opened and ran the sample Shopbot logo. However, I can't seem to get either of your suggestions to work. Is there another step or setting I am missing with either of those options you mentioned? I tried running a simple circle command but I can't get the spindle to start up.
Thanks,
John

John...
Has the 2 conductor wire from the VFD to the control board been installed? (it used to be brown wire)
Is the onboard jumper set to spindle?

And did you perhaps connect the two conductor wire mentioned above to the #2 contact verses the #1 like I did? #2 is on the left, #1 is on the right.
