View Full Version : Bookmatched Walnut Slab Table

Here's a neat project we are just finishing. It is a table made of two beautiful bookmatched slabs of walnut, side by side, spanned by a 9" strip of glass. The legs are 1/2" waterjet cut steel. The bot did all the surfacing, mortising and cut the butterflies with their associated templates. More pictures can be seen here.

beautiful work...I sometimes wonder why woodworkers have such reverence for a piece of wood? And why others can look at stuff like this and not see the beauty in it. Any idea how old this piece of wood is? good job.

I'm not sure about the age of these. However the shorter, vertical slab in the background is one half of a pair and is quite old >100yrs from a cemetery and is know to be riddled with bullets!

Once a while back we pulled an odd chunk of metal out and finally figured out that it was part of a car. Fun stuff.

Very nice Rob. I love the unique look that the glass seperation gives.
