I have struggled long enough...and now, I'm buying one...a vacuum table for a 48 x 96.

How is the one from shopbot for 6500 bucks???

Is it worth it???

Are their cheapers ones for a do it your selfer?

All help and links are greatly appreciated.

Nick...
You dont say what it is for $6500. IF you are talking about the Regen Blower, that is fair retail dollar for that unit. You must have 3 phase power or a phase converter to run it.

There are probably a few hundred posts on this forum concerning budget vacuum systems. You will have to research and see if any appeal to you.

I have a couple articles in my column that may give you some things to think about. http://www.shopbottools.com/garysmusings.htm

check out the open source vac thread that brady started. I built one for about $300...its not and industrial unit but there are plenty of people out there that are using some rendition of that set up. If you plumb it all right you can always switch out the DIY pump for the 6k unit.

I built mine from free plans provided on www.joewoodworker.com (http://www.joewoodworker.com) website. I do not need a full table vac system on my "Buddy" so I have opted for small individual vac fixtures using both nesting and surface mounting.
