Has anyone used their shopbot to carve ice sculptures or is it not recommended?

I know that at least one SB owner has...but the entire machine was in a walk-in freezer. You might want to look into creating molds and casting the ice (an art in itself to avoid bubbles).

to avoid the bubbles you are supposed to circulate the water as its freezing with a small fish tank pump I heard
I saw something recently on TV about ice carving and Brady is right,...just freezing the ice right is an art form. Very involved.
Don't do it, Danny Ray! Don't do it, man! Save that ice fer yer beer! ;-)

The trick to making ice in a mold is to do it in thin layers 1/8 or smaller untill the mold is full.
Look at any perfectly 400 lb block of clear ice and you can see the lines

In a previous life I worked worked in catering and we made ice sculptures as centre pieces for large functions. We always poured boiling water into the moulds to produce crystal clear Ice.
