Does anyone have a source for Kayak part DXF's? We saw one being made on "How its Made" from 1/8" Okouma Ply and would like to cut one on the bot.
Thanks in advance, Gary

Gary,
There is a FREE program on the web called "Hulls". It has about 50 different boat designs, and they are parametric. You can see if their kayaks are anything like you want to build.
If not, the ultimate page for free boat stuff is still;
http://www.boat-links.com/boatlink.html
(and Hulls is listed on there as well as a tutorial on how to use it...).

Mitch..
The one I saw was made out of 1/8" Okouma ply that had "S" finger joints to make the panels long enough and a few coats of epoxy, cloth and putty to hold it together. Very light. There were 2 pcs for the bottom, 2 for the sides a few bulkheads and one pc for the top. Thats about all I know. If the one you have is like I described, then I am interested in taking a look.
Thanks, Gary
I made one years ago from a set of lofted plans from Chesapeake light craft. I drew another in cad but cannot find the dxf. If anyone has a good Kayak dxf please email to me.

I believe you can buy plans on WoodenBoat.com at the store.
I purchased plans and book for a Shellback Dinghy and may someday enter in the loft table for each side component.
C-mon.. I know someone has one

You can probably find more by searching "stitch and tape kayak plans"

Heres one I extracted from the hulls program.
A nice sea kayak.
1. Save it as an eps file
2. re size all of it until the deck is about 16'
3. cut it from the backside of your 1/4" luan or Okume with a 60 deg V-bit (you may need to plane bow and stern to a feathered point for perfect fit)
4. drill holes about every 3-4" and use small zip ties to hold the seams together
5. insert the bulkheads and tie them in to hold the shape
6. make fillets from thickened epoxy at the joints
7. fiberglass as usual
These are alot of fun to build!
