What would the proper cutting speed be for a tapered 1/8" end mill cutting plexiglass at .12 deep? High quality is needed. Is there a feed and speed guide for other cutters?

I don't know the proper speed. A couple of days ago I had to cut some plexiglass. I broke 2 onsrud 1/8" endmills in a row following their chipload feed and speed chart. After that I gave up and ran a 1/4" endmill and cut the feed rate in half.

Sometimes it is best to start off slowly and forget the charts.

Paul, I use a .125" end mill at 6000RPM with a .5 to 1.00in/sec feed rate. I'm also using compressed air for cooling.

I am using a tapered bit. Shank is 3/8 and tapers to 1/8. I hope to be moving faster than .5 or 1 in. per second. Does any one know where to get a chart on the speeds?

onsrud has the charts.
