The production of Les Miserables that we're putting on called for a significant thrust stage to be added. The Director and Lighting Designer wanted the footlights to still be at the edge of the permanent stage. To do that we cut a grating into the deck of the thrust using our bot.

We had to do a little bit of testing to make sure we didn't compromise the strength of the plywood too much. The other factor we had to consider was making the holes safe for high heels. We worked with the costumers to come up with a design that minimized the chance of "falling in".
I'm pretty happy with the way it looks with the lights on!
