I am planning to make new door facings for my church they are approximately 36in wide and 94in tall. They are presently faced with 3/4 in plywood and I would like to take off the ply and replace with another material. I was thinking of using exteria mdf. Does anyone have a better suggestion? I plan to carve a cross and other decorative objects in them.
Thanks,
Mike

Michael: Are you going to paint this? If so the MDF product you are looking for is MDO, I have used it on a project for some big Letters and mascot for our football press box at the Local High School (Home of the Midgets) Serious that is our mascot. Its been up and to the weather since 2001. Holding up well. Hope this helps Kevin
MG,
I really like Extera but it's too soft for this kind of application. MDO is my choice also. It's erior plywood with a paper surface whick will hold up as Kevin mentioned. The down side is it's edges which look like what it is.
Woops,
I forgot to mention HDO. High Density Overlay comes without any, un-attractive, edge voids. It's the premium product used in the concrete form business. You may find it at a concrete supply. $65.00 a sheet.
