Maybe everyone already know about this but I just discovered windows powertoy picture resizer... http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx Once installed, just a right click and you can select to resize your images. It saves to the same folder anfd keeps the original as it was, which I like. And the small setting apparently is below the maximum for the Shopbot Forum.

John,

Thanks for the find it works very quickly and as you say I like the way it makes the copy in the same folder without effort. It's also very convenient being integrated into the shell allowing a right click to access without opening another program. There is of course some limiting factors to be aware of. The small 640X480 screen size works fine but is limited to pictures under 750K. If the picture is larger it will make a file over the 50K limet of the forum. I tried the 240X320 on some of my pictures over 1MB up to 50MB and it distorts the picture significantly.

Of course there is a way to make any picture work if you use the advanced setting and choose custom setting. I set a 2MB picture to 480X360 and got a nice clean 36k picture.

I found the same after playing with it Frank. The pics I initially picked were taken with a digital camera on a lower setting. I also used the advanced setting to correct it for larger resolutions. Still pretty convenient, I like some right click stuff. Take care.

Steve,

I also have been using ACDSEE for a long time. I have always liked a lot of the editing capabilities of ACDSEE. Plus that is the program I have always used to reduce my pictures for the forum.

Hmmm... maybe forum software should have this sort of utility built-in...? Like when one post an image on Blogger; it's automatically resized. It would solve a lot of hassle for both parties.

I have been using this software for a few years now. It is free, easy to use, and they have not bugged me once to upgrade or buy anything else. It works well with ShopBot, Saw Mill Creek and others that cannot handle large files.
