Engraving Rowmark or similar... what bit?

Actually it it is something similar.

It is IPI Nightlite.

Black on the outside and glowing white on the inside. It is 1/16th inch thick .

You only have to take off the outer .004 to get to the core.

I'd like to engrave a logo.

The Logo consists of a few block letters about 1" high , 5/16s thick legs, some smaller text that is about 5/16ths high with 1/16 thick legs and a few 1/16 stripes.
Total logo size is about 2" high and 7" wide.

I don't think a v-bit is right for this as I want the inside of the block letters to be square as possible at the corners.

Am I correct in looking at 1/16 straight end endmills for plastic if I can find them?

I almost have it perfect in pw3.... it was originally a eps ... what a fun transfer.. not!

Just use a standard 2-flute 1/16" end mill with 1/8" shank. Set move speed to between 1 & 2 IPS & RPM to 12,000 to 14,000 to avoid melting etc. Dust collection is a big help as it reduces welding by supplying cool air across the cut.

If you have a router and cannot get a 1/8" collet for it, I recommend using a stubby collet chuck.

Yes, it is a router.

I actually have a rotozip chuck adapter that does the same thing 1/4 to 1/8 bits, but don't know if it is good enough, but maybe.

The RotoZip adapters are pretty sloppy & will degrade the cut. If you invest in the stubby collet chuck, your results will be professional & you will have it for the next job.

Whiteside has a single flute 1/16 straight bit with a 1/4 shank. SC01 is their part number. I have had good success with it routing Rowmark.

I just made 80 parking permit hang tags for my school out of 1/16" Rowmark 3 ply. I used a single flute 1/16" bit with a 1/4" shaft from MLCS. I thought the bit price was more than reasonable at 7 bucks and it did a fine job.
