With the air drill installed the z drops when I shut down.
I was told put a block underneath when shutting down. I cannot be trusted to remember that every day.
Shopbot said they are trying to resolve the issue with their spring supplier. But as of now there is no solution.
Has anyone found springs that will resolve this issue? Any ideas welcome.....thanks
Dave

David...
Get a spring from McMaster that fits inside your original. One that has similar length and has about 10# pull should work. Or find 2 that pull 5#.

David,

I have had the same problem and have had no luck finding a spring to go inside. (Had not had that much time to look)

My temporary solutions is to "Park" the machine with the heads off the end of the table and drop them down to a height that they drop no further when power is turned off.
This enable me to turn the machine back on and be somewhat close in Z calibration.

I have a custom cut for parking and unparking so I am not in danger of running the bit into anything until I re-zero.

Let me know if you find a spring to fix the problem.

These folks have always had what I needed in the way of springs and their technical assistance is great:
