Proximity switches not working

I'm sure there is a very simple fix to this problem.I was surfacing the table today and I thought I'd reset the XY zero.I usually run the X & Y till the proximity switch stops the carriage zero the X or Y then enter the value to bring it to my zero.
Today the carriage went right past the proximity switch and ran into the stop Ouch!!
I noticed the light was coming on at the proximity switch itself and that input #3 was lighting(green)I also noticed that input #4 was green with a red circle around it? Does this indicate a problem.Either input #3 or 4 used to light up yellow when the proximity switch was activated.
What am I overlooking

Make sure input #3 (if this is the case) is set to 'as limit switch'.

If so, the problem might be intermittent but throughly test to make sure. You may want to reboot everything just to be sure.
