We currently own a PRT 96 in our cabinet shop. Looking to visit a shop that can demo the new PRT Alpha with the artcam cabinetmaker/KCDW software system that shopbot is offering. I have contacted shopbot a few times, but they have not been able to give me anyone in the midwest that has one. Diane from shopbot told me they don't even have a video to send me or my other option is at my expense to travel to NC to see it. I need to see the software and the entire tool package before purchasing. This is a $36,000 investment. Shopbot has not been helpful, does anyone have the entire set up in the midwest? We are located in northern Michigan. Thanks!

I'd like to see one working myself. Is there anyone in Oregon or S.Washingtion using one?

Are all the bugs worked out?

Tim, I have this new Cabinet system and it does work worderfully! I actually Beta tested the Artcam portion for Artcam. I have been a KCDw customer since 1998 and they have worked very closely with Shopbot, Artcam and me to develop a truly great product. This system is "Hot off the press" so you are going to be hard pressed to find a good demo location. I would love to demo for you, but unfortunatley I am in SC. Kip

Kip,

Sounds like you would be a great source of information. If possible I would like to speak with you to ask some questions. Please email me with a number where I can reach you. Thanks. Tim.

How many of these are out there and operating in cabinet shops right now? I am looking at flying to NC to see it run but would like to hear from guys in the field how they are doing.

I use it to process about 3 sets of cabinets per month. It's worth the investment. Kip

Kip, Did you get the other part of the KCDw software needed to Nest Parts? How does it work?
Thanks John

Rather than spending the money for kcdw software at 10000 to 15000 look at www.routercad.com (http://www.routercad.com) I use it in my cabinet shop and it has much more control on customizing cabinet designs. It also is about 1/2 to 1/3 the price. It will output to cabnetmaker or enroute wood

You might also check into Cabinet Pro CNC for the software. I use it and like it a lot. It outputs in ShopBot code, no conversions necessary.

John, The KCDw CNC software simply generates the "templates" for each part in the job based on your construction style. Once you generate those part templates you just import them into Artcam and it nests and toolpaths each part based on your tooling using "toolpath templates" which you set up. Kip

Mike
Have you used cabinet pro ?
I tried it for 2 yeaars and finally threw it away. what a piece of _ _ _ _ ....
I was getting a patch to fix a glitch in the program about every three days. It constantly locked up on me , was a bear to set up .I offered it back to cabinet pro at .25 cent on the dollar and they told me they have no provisions to buy back . I asked if i sold it to someone else what would happen and was told the new buyer would have to pay full price to re register the program . They are out of the west coast , oregon or washington i think ?
Please dont confuse them with the co out of Fla that does the door program . they have a simular name but are a much better Co .My opinion Cabinet Pro s_ _ _ s Gene Rhodes
