We have Lexan that has a cover that when we machine a part the protective covering does not stay on. I have been recovering the parts with a protective material that is paper based. The only real problem with the paper based material is it does not machine cleanly.

I have been reading on the sign making forum about the masking materials used in that industry. I have not been able to determine if one of those materials would work as a protective easily removable covering that machines cleanly.

The Gerber maskII pops fairly frequently. Would you consider the Gerber to be a viable alternative or is there a more suitable alternative out there.

Thanks
Alan

Try it without the mask. Hog out the material with an up spiral bit, and then comeback to clean the edges with a down spiral. I have never machined Lexan, but I hear it supposed to machine nice, just lots of dust.

I allways use PAINT MASK from AVERY GRAPHICS, it comes in rolls, you can buy this material from any sign supply, it peels off very easy, but take care aplying this to the lexan, you can scratch it too.
