When running a V-carve toolpath with the flat area clearance toolpath, using partworks, I often get two differnt depths in my cuts. Is there a way to fix or prevent this?

are you re-zeroing your bits after your bit change?

Yes, I zero to the same point with both bits. The two toolpaths are made together, for the same depth and area, but there is almost always a lip/step where my clearing toolpath doesn't match the v-carve.

Maybe your v bit is a different size than the computer thinks it is. It is possible you are selecting the right bit in the tools area, but that it is set up wrong. I remember reading something about bits in the tools area of PW not being set up correct for size or angle if memory serves.

I'll check some of my bits but, this seems to happen no matter what combination of bits I use. If I change bits to 1/16 or 1/8" ball nose or a 45,50,or 60 deg. V-bit with a 1/8, 1/4 or 1/2 clearing bit they all end the same way.

after you zero your end mill. Zero it about .02" lower. This will get rid of that pesky channel.

How does it look in the preview?
